Mantis, the leading supplier of extended Supply Chain Execution (SCE) software and solutions in South Eastern Europe, and its partner Novensys, the leading supplier of logistics and auto-id solutions in Romania, announced today that Aquila, Unilever’s distributor in Romania, has decided to invest in Mantis’ Logistics Vision, in order to reduce its logistics costs and improve the quality of its customer service.

Aquila, headquartered in Ploiesti, is one of the leading FMCG distributors in the Romanian market. Their main distribution center of over 30,000 square meters is the hub for the distibution of many FMCG products with Unilever as their main customer.

Aquila, in late 2006, realized the need for a state-of-the-art logistics information system to optimize its operations and ensure customer service standards for their principals and initiated a search for the procurement of such a system. Finally, Aquila opted for Mantis’ Logistics Vision Suite due to its complete functionality, adaptability, Mantis’ experience in FMCG logistics and strong presence in the Romanian market.

The model scope has currently being finalized and implementation has started. The project is expected to reach completion in the summer of 2007. In the context of the project, Novensys will initially introduce the core of the Warehouse Vision at the distribution center – with a number of additional modules to follow later such as Billing, Electronic Data Interchange with external ERP-systems, and sophisticated warehouse activity visualization tools enabling real-time warehouse operation monitoring.
